Hasn't posted since April 26. Didn't say anything about taking a break. Anyone know if he's OK?

I haven't seen your fat woman since April 26th either. Perhaps she's getting a portion of helmet unlike which the universe has ever seen.

Nope. Gave the busted mower away and bought a new one. First thing I did was install 1/4" hardware cloth in strategic locations to keep the mice out of the engine to the extent possible.

Had a cat. It pissed in the toaster.

Also, locally, outdoor cats that would otherwise kill rodents are routinely shot by the good ol' boys up and down the road, being law-abiding citizens in defense of local ordinances prohibiting cats from being allowed outside. Free-roaming dogs are permitted, but the good ol' boys target them, too.

They will nest wherever they can fit into a sheltered location, and a mower engine housing is an ideal sheltered location. I remove the housing for the winter to prevent that. They were packed into the flywheel area once and hilarity ensued when I started the engine.

It would be futile anyway. The neighbors have goats, so the mice have a steady supply of goat food to sustain the population. Other neighbors have a feed stand for deer. Plenty of food, lots of habitat.
