The fake baby Instagram adoption scam

Post by Anaxagoras »

This one is a bit weird. It's not a scam for money, or at least that doesn't seem to be the main point of it. It's like a kind of catfishing except that the victims are couples who want to adopt. They get jerked around for a while, their time wasted, and they get emotionally invested, only to find out there's no baby to adopt.

Part of it is the speed with which ideas can be spread. One person comes up with something fucked up (or really cool), and by sundown a million people know about it.
