Nuclear Power Plant Simulator

Post by Rob Lister »

Not exactly an 'action' game. At least not until the littlest fucking something goes wrong.

It appears to be about as realistic as simcity. IOW, not. But it gives a basis for understanding just how simple, and complex, nuclear power generation is.

You could probably replace the nuclear core with a coal core for about the same realism but that would take the danger out of the game.

The starting goal is to get all those bars indicators right on the edge of yellow without quite touching it. The exception being emergency venting. That should stay zero.

It's web based so you can play right away.

Being in too much of a hurry to make money has negative effects. The readings all have inertia. Patience keeps things at the right temperature.

Do try not to kill civilization.

Maybe they're looking for people with a natural talent for running a nuclear power plant.

Maybe if you get a perfect score, you'll get a call with a job offer.

I started making a lot of money soon after. I was steady at 101% and making a ton.

The fuel rods got below 50% so I decided to replace them. Why not? I could afford it.

Note to self: shut down reactor before replacing rods.

Note to civilization: Mea culpa.

I think I found the sweet spot. If you want to generate over 100MW and satisfy 100% of demand:
Spoiler:
74% primary cooling, 74% secondary and the reactor depends on how old your fuel rods are, but try to keep it just above 700 deg. This means you have to increase it gradually as the rods deteriorate.

Got bored after about a 1/2 year.

But the damn thing pauses the game rather than letting it blow up. Wanted it to blow up.

Unrealistic.

Where are the bodies of people killed by anything nuclear? :o
