Nuclear waste battery

Post by Bruce »

https://www.zmescience.com/science/diam ... years/amp/
A U.S. startup combined radioactive isotopes from nuclear waste with ultra-slim layers of nanodiamonds to assemble a ridiculous battery that allegedly can last 28,000 years.

According to the California startup in question, called NDB (Nano Diamond Battery), their product is a “high-power diamond-based alpha, beta, and neutron voltaic battery.”
I'm skeptical, naturally.

Even if they come up with a commercial version that can power a phone, the first time someone grows an ear tentacle or gets skull cancer, it's all over.
Such potential!

People would line up in droves to by the latest new thing.
The flash of light you saw in the sky was not a UFO. Swamp gas from a weather balloon was trapped in a thermal pocket and reflected the light from Venus.

I'm nor to skeptical they could do it, safely, cheaply, easily...except for the scare tactics and politics that woould make it immpossibly wasteful, expensive and hard.
