Re: Powerline Network Adapters
Used to use one about 7 years ago. If you have a really big house (or separate buildings on the same breaker box) they are better than wifi. Think of them as a poor mans ethernet. Not a lot of throughput though. I'd say 20mb/s over a long electrical haul.

Re: Powerline Network Adapters
Basically the machine isa lead weight. Just got a netgear thing and installed it. Not blazing but one can do what one needs too and cheaper than dropping an ethernet cable.
I am satisifed.

I put my router on top of a wardrobe and it improved the speed quite a lot.

[captain obvious] Actually, your neighbors on the same electrical line transformer will be able connect just fine, so long as they know the password. [/ca]Abdul Alhazred wrote: ↑Sat May 23, 2020 5:00 pm And no Wi Fi of course, because why give your thievish neighbors access to free pr0n?![]()

Re: Powerline Network Adapters
Actually, it sucks. Damn phone won't connect to the wi-fi and the computer doesn't recognize the Ethernet. Bastards.
God damnit to hell, I hate computers
Rob, would you get here forthwith and fix this mess for me?
CH would have been here already.

Well, yea. A dead CPU will certainly stop it from connecting to the internet.

Re: Powerline Network Adapters
Can you tell what task drives it up that high?
"If fighting is sure to result in victory, then you must fight! Sun Tzu said that, and I'd say he knows a little bit more about fighting than you do, pal, because he invented it, and then he perfected it so that no living man could best him in the ring of honor. Then, he used his fight money to buy two of every animal on earth, and then he herded them onto a boat, and then he beat the crap out of every single one. And from that day forward any time a bunch of animals are together in one place it's called a zoo! (Beat) Unless it's a farm!"

Re: Powerline Network Adapters
check which executables are driving the usage--if it is the browser itself it may be an add-on issue. Also being an older machine, do you have java and shockwave disabled? As in, you ought to.
