Dragged my sorry ass to a "cigarbox" blues concert: Swamp Train (sic):

https://i.imgur.com/HJEoIDy.jpg

They weren't that good (some of the songs I recognized only from the lyrics! ), played too loud and there was a definite "geriatric" vibe to the evening, given the age of the musicians and, even more so, the public (yours truly included, of course). Is blues now music for oldsters? In the US too?

I'm always baffled how the musical genre seems to condition the style of the audience, e. g. jazz draws mostly young men with a kinda "romantic" look (lots of well-groomed hair, woolen scarves, &c.).

Anyway, the place was Nice©: roomy, stylish & comfy furniture, and good beer. Can't complain.

Found the dudes on YT. Seem to have somehow aged a lot since last year ( ):

Anyone fancy a crack at the chromatic harmonica? My trusty old Hohner 64 Chromatica has seen better days, so I chanced my arm and bought a Swan 1664, (pictured above). Having been enormously disappointed by their diatonic blues harps, (I threw them away), this blew me away! It doesn't play as loud as the Hohner, (which is good news for friends and relatives of a beginner), but it's in tune, has a lovely, silvery tone comes with a decent case and costs way, way less. Its little brother, the 10 hole 1040, 1040 is also a steal and pocket sized.

Abdul Alhazred wrote: Sat Feb 16, 2019 8:02 pm http://i48.tinypic.com/15ppb11.jpg It's really a goyishe instrument. French or something. But I don't mind getting "racial" credit for it, Bubbee. :BigGrin3:
Its roots go way back further than France and even Judaism: the originals, probably the first reed instruments and primitive harmonicas, are still around in the east. And the chomus is highly regarded in Russian folk music.

Watch and listen at your own risk. (Probably NSFW for most full-blooded Western males, as unintended eruptions are likely to occur in the trouser department, but you're not one of us.)

And, Bubbee, you can't claim ownership, they're jaws harps. ;)

The Who made use of ancient and modern in Join Together. :)

Oh, and fuck. Mrs. Camel has started dancing to Russian folk music. Naked. Not a sight for sore eyes on a Sunday morning.

Here's my authentic Russian chomus. Unfortunately, I can't play it very well as I suffer from ABTS.

You want to know what ABTS is, don't you, Abdul? Be nice and I may tell you. :)
