This one is a little hard to explain. It stars David Tennant and Micheal Sheen as themselves. It mostly consists of Zoom calls between the two (because they are locked down during the pandemic) or between them and other characters. In the first season they are trying to prepare for an upcoming play they will be starring in after the pandemic is over but they mostly argue and procrastinate. It's pretty funny

The second season has them dealing with an upcoming American Remake of the first series. Same format and so far (I am half way through it) even funnier

That is deliciously dark. I also love the one when the parents visit and characters hide under the table.

Zach Schneider's Justice League.

Could have been a one hour movie instead of a four hour movie if 75% of the movie wasn't shown in ultra slow motion.

Other than that, didn't completely suck.

Started on "Falcon and Winter Soldier".

Doesn't have the "wow" factor of Wandavision's unusual and creative concept. It won't make history. But I didn't hate it and I'll keep going.

Resident Alien

Alan Tudyk is an alien who came to Earth to destroy it, but gets stranded here and has to try to blend in with people. It's hilarious. His nemesis is a 9 year old kid who can somehow see through his disguise. 10 out of 5 stars.

Was watching the old series The Making of the Mob which was not bad, then, of all people, Anax's Mom お姉さん recommended The Age of the Samurai.

Last night was Amazon Prime’s release of Tom Clancy’s “Without Remorse”. I don’t know what they were thinking? Maybe they needed toilet paper during the pandemic, because they obviously opened the book, ripped out the pages and wiped their asses with them. It was marginally entertaining as a stand alone action adventure with SJW overtones, but did they have to put Clancy’s name on it? I get that it would seem outdated, but it’s Clark’s freaking backstory!

During D-Day, Allied soldiers captured a German soldier who turned out to be a Korean.

He did it My Way [Stop that! – Ed.]

So far not only well done, but very good battle scenes.

– J.D.

P.S.
Spoiler:
An old, old, then old WWII veteran told me a story about how he was in the Pacific. On some אל Forsaken שְׁאוֹל‎ Hole of an island, he was inline for chow when he noticed a Japanese soldier standing in line behind him. He, naturally, freaked as did the rest, but before they could kill the guy he screamed back in English that he was American.

Or did he scream back in American that he was English? [Get on with it. – Ed.]

Helpfully, their officer came up to explain that he was, indeed, an American. As the Old WWII Vet put it, "Typical. Never bother to explain to us first."

He was, I think I recall, a student at Harvard. He was second-generation and decided he should "visit the old country" at about 1939ish to 40ish.

The Japanese conscripted him.

He objected that he was an "American," but they, surprisingly, prove unpersuaded by this argument and retorted that he was Japanese. They then gave him a choice: he accept the honor of fighting for his War Criminal Emperor in the Navy, or the Air Force branch, or in the Army, or he could be executed for treason, cowardice, and a rather unseemly method of using hashi.

As he explained, he figured, "Navy? Get sunk, sharks, drown. Air? Get shot down, burn, crash, drown." He thought he might have a chance with the Army.

So there he was.

He was part of either an attack or counter-attack on the 'Murican forces taking said island. The second he hit the beach or emerged from the jungle, to my recollection, he threw his hands up.

Then, he explained, he became very, very upset over how long it took to get captured! On the one hand, he was worried the Japanese would notice, while on the other, he was worried an American would just shoot him.

It is one thing to volunteer for a war.

It is one thing to volunteer to "serve your country," and have to fight in a war you may not agree with.

It is quite another thing for the occupiers of your country to force you to fight for them.

I remind myself of this whenever I need to replace a part on my car, or my porn streaming is slower than I expect.

In the rain.

Jimmy Cagney. He did "crazy" really well. Who else did ... Peter Otoole in the Ruling class. Woody harrilson in ... everythnig, I think he actually is insane. But Wag the Dog.... "Purdy".

Anyway, where was I? Oh yeah ...

Saw 7/8 of Future War or somesuch last night on Amazon. The Chris Pratt thing ... (he is actually pretty good, I'd like to see him in a real role) ... I swaer I saw it before
Spoiler:
He goes to the future to "save the world" and meets his daughter. I saw this before, maybe 3 times. Help me here.
I remember going to see some horror with my son, Pacific Rim XVII I think. It was simply a vehicle for special effects.
Irrelevant character 1: OK, suit up, the (insert cute derogatory name for the aliens that shows their utter contempt for them) are at the gates
IC2 (Ethinic minority version 1): Got it. Boy I sure wish I stayed with my Hip Hop buds
IC3 (grizzled veteran version who has "seen it all"): We all do, Rastus, we all do. Don't think about it
HERO: I'm not sure I have the balls for this
Cute chick: Me too! <---- comic relief to break unbearable tension
Cut to SFX
Continue SFX for 1hour and 46 minutes
The End
This was sorta the same. No discernable plot. Time travel explained away as needed to short circuit unpleasant questions.

I must say though that the SFX have gotten really quite good.

Spoiler:
https://images-na.ssl-images-amazon.com ... SX300_.jpg
Spoiler:
A young Mexican nun, named Sister Sarah, is neglected and abused by a corrupt clergy that produces and distributes heroin. After a bad drug deal, she is handed over to thugs to be used as an instrument as sex for money. On the verge of death after being heavily drugged and wounded and raped, the nun receives a commandment from God to take revenge. Acquiring heavy weapons (including big guns and vibrators), Sister Sarah sets out to kill those who had abused her and are using the church for their own personal gain. The frightened drug lords in the church hires "Los Muertos", a violent motorcycle gang, to track her down and eliminate her. Los Muertos' base of operations is the local brothel "Titty Flickers", where they try to gather more information on the vigilante nun. After being wounded in a shootout, Sister Sarah hides out in a fleabag motel where she recovers and finally achieves vengeance by killing Los Muertos, degenitalizing Chavo (the brutal leader of Los Muertos), and saving her female lover who had been raped. But in the final scene, the clergy drug lord, known only as the Monsignor, hires another hit man to track down the vigilante nun, leaving the door wide open for a sequel.

I recently came across "The Good Doctor" on Netflix.

This show is so bad -- so full of in-your-face left-wing tripe -- it's actually entertaining.

The main character is autistic yet somehow a fully capable doctor.

The other "good" doctors are constantly trying to accommodate him while also announcing how he's "equal" in every way.

A "woke" fairytale if ever there was one.

In one of the episodes, one of the "good" doctors filed a sexual harassment complaint.

The lesson the viewers are meant to understand -- and they're apparently serious about this -- is that, sure, there may be innocent men wrongly accused of sexual harassment, rape, etc. But women have been 'victims' for so long, so what if some innocent men are sent to prison.

The punchline offered in response to the question of believing women without proof: "After a few thousand years of doing the opposite, it wouldn't kill us to overcorrect."

Later, in the very same episode, the autistic doctor -- whose autism serves as a vehicle to say un-"woke" things and then get corrected by the "good" doctors -- gets scolded for suggesting a Muslim patient showing symptoms related to exposure to chemical weapons may have some connection to terrorism.

Without a hint of irony: "Unfounded accusations can destroy people's lives."

I watched to the end to see if they would connect the dots.

Of course, they didn't.
