Re: Trolley problem
“There is a runaway trolley barreling down the railway tracks. Ahead, on the tracks, there are five people tied up and unable to move. The trolley is headed straight for them. You are standing some distance off in the train yard, next to a lever. If you pull this lever, the trolley will switch to a different set of tracks. However, you notice that there is one person on the side track. You have two (and only two) options…”
I choose a giant helicopter swoops down and picks up the trolly, saving everyone!
“What? Where did you get the helicopter?”
Same place you got the fucking trolley

Re: Trolley problem
I was taught to “think outside the box”
The “box” is believing the person asking the Trolly problem has control over you, restricting your choices
To me, the real problem is letting people dictate what you are limited to do
This point is often reached very early on
Recognizing when and where to make a sideways move is an essential survival skill when surrounded by Assholes

EAST PALESTINE, Ohio (AP) — A train derailment and resulting large fire prompted an evacuation order and a declaration of a state of emergency in an Ohio village near the Pennsylvania state line, covering the area in billows of smoke lit orange by the flames below.
About 50 cars derailed in East Palestine as a train was carrying a variety of freight from Madison, Illinois, to Conway, Pennsylvania, rail operator Norfolk Southern said in a statement Saturday. There was no immediate information about what caused the derailment. No injuries were reported.

Some view the trolley problem one way, some another.
My view has always been that we need more trolleys.
