Tom Clancy's Jack Ryan.
https://www.imdb.com/title/tt5057054/
Amazon Prime.
8 part first season. Very well done.
Tom Clancy (Red Story Rising, Hunt for Red October, Clear and Present Danger, Patriot Games, yada, about a dozen others before he got lazy and let ghost writers do it for him).
Jack Ryan (A continuing character of his from Hunt and about four dozen more).
Dozens of books, a half dozen movies.
Amazon does it right casting John Krasinski (The Office, 13 Hours) as Jack Ryan. He's trying to fill Harrison Ford's old shoes from prior movies. Ed sez Harrison has a big dick and he's very fuckable. I'll admit he's a handsome gent.
Wendell Pierce (The Wire, Suits) plays James Greer. Who the fuck can fill James Earl Jones shoes? Wendell tries and has more screen time. He does a decent job.
I give this 4.8 stars of 5.

Re: Tom Clancy's Jack Ryan
It was cool but I wish they would have just done the books straight up. The 80's and 90's nostalgia are in and Russian bad guys would work again easily.
I also don't think they get Ryan is an analyst. There was no reason for him to be in Paris as well as other places. Plenty of much more qualified people could have gone in his place with him monitoring remotely.
I give it 3.9 out of 5.

Re: Tom Clancy's Jack Ryan
I'm just barely alive. I've been working 12 hours a day [officially] and another 3 [unofficially] building my mote.
At any rate, Gram is right: the original Ryan was all about Russia. But times have changed and the Muselman is the new boogeyman. In the movie Patriot Games they replaced the Muslim's (as they were in the very worthy book) with southern right wing activists ... perhaps because it was so close to 9-11 that Hollywood thought it was be inappropriate ... fags. It didn't do as well as it could because of that.
Amazon doesn't seem to give a fuck but ... but ... casts Greer as a Muslim. Weird.
Still, it starts with Ryan as a newbie in the CIA. Gram's critisiams's notwithstanding, they did a good job.
Plus, there are smidgens of breasts and butts. And not just guy butts like Gram likes.
That's like the most famous quote of Jack's. Gram needs to get edumacated or something.I can't go to Yemen! [Moscow!, Mobile! Tallahassee!, etc.] I'm an analyst! I write reports!!!

Exactly my point, Jack Ryan should be in DC analyzing data by day and banging a Dr by night.
