I don't want to be offensive or anything but let me understand this.robinson wrote:I can't help it, reading this old topic, but laugh, considering Ed's current avatar.

You spend your free time going over, and chuckling at, ancient threads on Interweb fora?
That constitutes "amusement" for you?
It is a "Pastime"?
When you do this, are you alone? I mean, is there anyone in close proximity? When you find a thigh slapper like the current example, do you chuckle audibly?

In this case, due to a few asshats calling me troll, saying I started off by bumping old threads and trolling here, I simply went back and read my first posts here, including my first topic. (this one)ed wrote:You spend your free time going over, and chuckling at, ancient threads on Interweb fora?
The difference between reading it now, and back then, is pretty astounding.
My first posts were in the welcome newcomers thread (AKA hello, fuck you, now go away thread). I chuckled over that as well, because I was using "If you tell people the truth, make them laugh, otherwise they will kill you", as a tagline, and Wilde as an avatar, and somebody asked me if I was gay.
Which was hilarious.
I also got an email from Skeptica before I could post here, you know, to activate my account, I had to explain myself, which meant the level of paranoia about sock puppets and banned members here, was about the same as TOP.
But to answer your question, I usually only read old topics that I posted in, that way I am assured of some entertainment value.
The heavy use of the idiot filter means there aren't that many responses to read through. This topic for example, took less than 2 minutes to read. Well worth it, because of your chickenhead avatar, which I had not seen yet.
How do I have so much free time? I don't read very many topics. It may be hard to fathom, but you know all them new topics that are created every day here? I might read one of them a day.
Unless it is a Bruce topic. Those are usually pretty good.

I read this thread and then I am greeted with this at TOP:

Hey thanks. This friend of mine used to say that Yoda shit and I always thought, I don't remember that in the movie.
It sounded good, and he said it in that Yoda voice, but now I know the truth! I almost looked it up on the Internets first, but then I thought, "Geez, how much of a fucking loser would I be if I cared about correctly quoting a puppet from a movie I saw over 20 years ago?".
Oh, and the JREF forums are still down. Victims of their own popularity.

Yeah, HBO played it every other hour in the early eighties when I was a kid. Kind of hard not to remember certain lines.robinson wrote:Hey thanks. This friend of mine used to say that Yoda shit and I always thought, I don't remember that in the movie.

"Size matters not. Look at me. Judge me by my size, do you? Hmm? Hmm. And well you should not. For my ally is the Force, and a powerful ally it is. Life creates it, makes it grow. Its energy surrounds us and binds us. Luminous beings are we, not this crude matter. You must feel the Force around you; here, between you, me, the tree, the rock, everywhere, yes. Even between the land and the ship."
What a load of horseshit.
What a load of horseshit.
