I didn't take it that way. But for those that don't really ... grok baseball, it is a good comic.

P.S. I see a flaw in his Primer diagram.

Certainly is possible that there are multiple meanings behind it. But that comic simplified baseball to make it look silly. And while sure, in the grand scheme of things devoting attention to sports to such a fanatical degree is silly, it's no more silly than the attention to fictional novels or films. Being a LOTR nerd does not give one a high-ground over sports nerds. In fact, today there's probably a significant overlap between those nerds.

Now it could be I am incredibly overthinking this, but then this comic's bread-and-butter is overthinking simple things...

I was watching back to the future two. Sometimes fantasy is better than reality. Well most times. Like I've said before, "Wait till next Century".

Just prior to 2000 I knew a Boston fan who confidently declared, "at least the Red Sox will win a World Series before the Patriots ever win a Super Bowl!"

He also mentioned that there is, somewhere, a Stephen King story/novel where a RS fan meets someone from/who knows the future. He wants to know if the RS will ever win a WS. The character asks him does he really want to know?

There is also this The Lost scene:

One of the last Dark Tower books.

Unless you already know the answer...in which case it's still one of the last Dark Tower books.

They might get there next year, they have a good young team.

I went to one White Sox game at the Cell this season, the second game of the year. Guess what they gave away at the door?

A fucking White Sox doormat.

Seriously, a doormat. Does the marketing dept. not know what that symbolizes?

And, prophetically, they are the doormat of the American League. They were mathematically eliminated sometime in May I believe.

Funny a doormat. At least we have da bears. Oh wait.
I went to many a Sox games growing up in the greater Chicagoland area ( my dad had season tickets, fourth row between batters box and third base). Always hoping for a homerun. I do recall going to a twilight doubleheader and the first game went 16 innings. There were supposed to be a fireworks display after game two. For some reason fireworks were a big thing for me growing up. Anyways we didn't stay.

10 years. A decade of being an orphan. And the twins are 10 years old. They DO grow up so fast.

I'll adopt you if you want. Seems my kids won't leave anyway and they can't be that much younger than you. Come on down, bring the family.

10 years. Yeah, I hear ya.

It was 10 years ago that I moved my family from Missouri to Rhode Island. I've been in Massachusetts for about 6 months. Not all that much different from Rhode Island except maybe a little less paranoid and a little less blatantly corrupt. More swamps and less ocean. More hills and less rocks. More snow and less slush.

I have one set of grandparents remaining and both parents still going. All four still live in Ohio, all four have health issues, and all four are doing absolutely nothing to take care of themselves. My sister sent a text the other day. My grandpa has Alzheimers and didn't recognize my dad for the first time the other day. That has to suck. I have a nasty feeling that I'm going to lose all four of them very soon. Seems they sense it too. My parents have purchased their own grave stones, grave plots, filled out their will and such.

Said not to worry. Ok, thanks I guess? :|

Maybe their trying to get me to visit them in Ohio more often?

Anyway, it worked. We're driving out their this Christmas. 14 hour drive. It's actually faster to drive than to fly.

Glad to hear your twins are doing well. Keep up the good work. :bigthumb:

Maybe Ed will adopt you. I mean he is old enough...
Perhaps he can teach me to shoot his cannon.
If he asks you about that . . . Don't go into his back yard.

Just don't.

Also, there is no candy in his van.

ETA: Both of mine are driving age now - I have no idea how that happened, since I am barely old enough myself.
