. . . clearly sent from a PC. . . .

Though that is not the dumbest thing I have heard in a university setting. I nearly posted live a student trying to explain to me that gravity did not exist when the Earth was formed.

No I am not making that up.

Stupidity...but as I spent over 2 decades as a paramedic, AND in Oklahoma on top of that...I've seen so much stupid that I'm kind of numb to it now.

Still...no gravity when the earth was formed...huh what? The earth wouldn't have formed without gravity to pull the pieces together, as we wouldn't have been, ya know, orbiting the sun...even I know that.

I referred him to Bad Astronomy for help--as I did another who contended that the Earth is older than the Sun and plants are--I am not making this up--also older than the Sun.

Following that line of logic to its natural conclusion, why should they play football when what they came there for was the money. Just give them the money. Playing football for it is pointless.

If there's was gravity then why didn't the Earth fall into it?

I mean, I have to agree to some point that a lot of college classes are pointless.

For every one of him there are many more scholarship athletes that take full advantage of the opportunity, and for all we know he was just blowing off steam. I'd be mortified if people had general access to the shit I thought when I was his age.

Still jumping around a bit, but a big win combined with wins by many of the teams they beat pumps up the Domers a bit. Lots of movement, as Oregon State drops by beating Washington State... so nothing set in stone.

That's a pretty high ranking for a school (ND) with a bipolar QB position.

Went to the ND game. Had a great time but they are definitely a solid #4.

All I know is my NIU Huskies somehow became the first MAC team ever in a BCS bowl. :bananallama:

And for the haters out there you can go suck it, the Big Least sucked ass this year and IIRC lost every one of their games to MAC opponents.

Outside of the Orange Bowl committee and probably Oklahoma there probably aren't a whole lot of haters out there. The MAC champ finished ahead of both the BE and B10 champs in the final ratings, so the whole thing seems fair to me.

All in all I got more out of the 21 mile bike ride--KNEW I should not have taken that "short cut!"--when I gave up at half-time.

ND got screwed on a few calls but then Alabama raped them so hard it did not matter.

Eh. They at least got there, and honestly getting your ass kicked is not as embarrassing as choking. It is a good first step if ND is to truly be back to elite status. It looks like they may finally have a decent coach, and the perception that they can at least get into the playoff is the last piece in their recruiting puzzle.

Although... they slipped through a schedule this year where they caught pretty much everyone they played on a down week and got really lucky not to lose to a Pitt team that got blown out by Youngstown State. They were really lucky that every other contender stumbled as well.

Whether they can parlay these breaks into real momentum is the question...

Hard work? Feh. I forget what college coach said it, but it was something like "College recruiting is just like the NFL draft except Nick Saban gets the first 28 picks."

All teams work hard, and Saban is a great coach and deserves credit for the above anyway... but you need the talent to be that dominant.

I have given up on that one--it is moving back and forth between hoax and scam. Methinks it is more "scam" given the level of sophistication.

I'm sure you college football mavens already knew this, but a funny fact I learned today:

The Big 12 conference only has 10 members.
Meanwhile the Big 10 conference has 14.

Oh, sorry. I didn't know! I heard it on a podcast. Maybe they heard from the commercial or something like that.

Dr. Pepper just isn't that big here although you can find it if you try. And that commercial wouldn't work here as-is anyway.
