At least he lived long enough to see the Dodgers lose to the Red Sox.

I remember the documentary on him ten years ago. I think I posted on it. He was, quite literally, "elevated" to pope by his "Mun 'n Dad" in their store.

He had one follower during the entire documentary. He would walk around in the "white pope suit," in, like, the Midwest.

After the election, Bawden continued living at home with his parents.
Didn't Pope Francis do the same for a while?

Leandro Lo

{Who?}

[Brazilian Jūjutsu champion. – Ed.]
He was one of the most successful Jiu Jitsu athletes of all time, having won the World Championships eight times.

According to a police report seen by local media, Lo - whose full name is Leandro Lo Pereira do Nascimento - was approached by an off-duty police officer while out with friends at the Clube Sirio - a sports and social club to the south of the capital.

Witnesses said the police officer started making threatening gestures with a glass bottle at the table. Lo then immobilised him and told him to go away.

The police officer then allegedly pulled a gun
out and shot Lo in the forehead, police said.

Lo was rushed to hospital, where he was declared brain dead, according to his family lawyer. His family said his condition is irreversible.

Wow. I wonder about the photos -- and to hell with people who publish such-- allegedly showing her sitting up on a stretcher. Involuntary response of some sort, probably.

Uh . . . I was surprised, but I did not really follow the case. I "heard" that the police talked to her. Nevertheless, she apparently suffered burns which is enough to lead to a cardiac arrest at some point.

Apparently according to Bugger'd by Colonists, her family is just waiting to see if any of her organs can be donated. If not, they will withdraw support. No word if she is actually brain dead or not, and I do not trust BBC to figure out that. They did, and continue to do, a reprehensible job reporting on Some Yute who did something stupid with the Internet and basically stroked out his brain stem. They kept using the term "brain stem dead" without explaining what that means. Granted, I do not suspect their readers to know, but that is sort of the job of a reporting organization, methinks.

Naturally, they focused on his family screaming about the unjust system that prevented Jesus from performing a miracle. Like Charley Gard, the medical, and then legal, communities arrived at the obvious conclusion. I try not to "blame families" for being ignorant in grief, but, unfortunately, they were in no interest in listening to reality no matter how fucking obvious it is.

Seems that Heche's family have a better grip on reality.

Yeah sure Gorbachev was responsible for collapse of USSR and that's good. But internally he was responsible by monumental inaptitude for a collapse of USSR and it's not pretty from the inside when an empire crumbles. Many parts of the former USSR still haven't recovered and I would argue some are living in a worst authoritarian environment. Gorbachev should not get credit for anything.

Yeah but the only topping was anchovies.

Pineapple and anchovies pizza is delicious, you guys are weird.

Also, for more reasons to hate Gorbachev: https://www.upi.com/Top_News/World-News ... 395193402/
Former Soviet President Mikhail Gorbachev supported Crimea's decision to join Russia, saying it corrected a Soviet-era mistake.

Russian President Vladimir Putin and Crimean leaders signed a treaty Tuesday to annex Crimea to Russia.

Gorbachev hailed the Crimean voters' decision to secede from Ukraine.

"While Crimea had previously been joined to Ukraine based on the Soviet laws, which means [Communist] party laws, without asking the people, now the people themselves have decided to correct that mistake," he said Monday.

"This should be celebrated, not sanctioned," he added.

About 60 percent of the population of Crimea is Russian speaking.
