I don't why that would be. Look at his career stats. He's been a star for most of his career. Certainly in Japan, but also in the major leagues. 0.83 WHIP, 2.42 ERA. No slouch! I'm pretty sure that most pitchers in Cooperstown have higher ERA and WHIP.

Maybe Daisuke soured Bostonians on Japanese pitchers?

That and there were All These People Who were Suppose to be Better.

That and he had a bad 2011 Post Season which is what it is all about. RS just left a closer walk who FAIL'd in two post-season opportunities. Sensitive issue.

But then Fan Boys were bitching about "why you bringing in Gomes?! Victorino?! Napoli?! Why the fuck are you resigning Ortiz! He won't survive half the season before his Achilles rips! WE NEED TO GET JOSH HAMILTON!!11!!!"

THAT I do not know, but I would not be surprised if they did with Peralta.

They will in Boston, of course.

Fans heckle the opposing players, but not their own? It's like they're biased or something.

Yeah. What a way for Shane Victorino and Big Papi to come out of a "slump." Oddly enough, just prior to Shane's hit, the Talking Heads wondered about pinch hitting him. Looked like it could be a squander in the making.

A number of years ago in 2007 [As opposed to yesterday in 2007--Ed.], when the Red Sox made the Angels their bitch again John Lackey whined about how much he hated pitching in Fenway. I gave him this:

http://otr.blastmagazine.com/files/2009 ... lackey.jpg

with "LOSER" emblazoned upon it.

We will not mention that series a few years later. . . .

He came to the Red Sox. Much maligned during a "collapse year" for appearances such as this:

http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-ef18u6Ii8RA/T ... angels.jpg

then it was learned he had been pitching in excruciating pain for a year knowing he needed Tommy John surgery.

He returned, over a year later, slim and mean.

So, to the Only Man Who Has Won the Deciding Game of a World Series for two teams:

I'll be at a concert at the House of Blues (across the street from Fenway Park) on Saturday evening. The drunken revelers better be cleared out by then (doors open at 6PM). The rolling rally starts at 10AM at Fenway.

Probably nobody cares. I'm only barely following it myself, but the Japan Series is currently underway:

http://www.japantoday.com/category/spor ... pan-series
TOKYO —
Ginji Akaminai and Andruw Jones each singled in a run in the 10th inning as the Rakuten Eagles beat the Yomiuri Giants 4-2 to take a 3-2 lead in the best-of-seven Japan Series on Thursday.

The Pacific League champion Eagles could wrap up the title on Saturday at home when they are likely to start ace Masahiro Tanaka. The 24-year-old Tanaka went 24-0 this season and has four complete-game wins in four career postseason starts.

The Giants are Japan’s oldest and most successful franchise. The Eagles are the youngest team and became the first expansion team in Japanese baseball in 50 years in 2005.
24-0 record plus 4-0 in the postseason, all complete games. Pretty impressive.

Wow!

Someone did do a great one of the cop during the catch against the Saints.

Though that play--Big Papi's GS--was the post-season. Down by 4 in the bottom of the 8th?

Funny old game.

Meanwhile, History:

http://espn.go.com/new-york/mlb/story/_ ... l-hit-list
TORONTO -- New York Yankees shortstop Derek Jeter gained sole possession of eighth place on baseball's all-time hit list with two hits in the first four innings Sunday against the Blue Jays, giving him 3,320 career hits and moving him one ahead of Hall of Famer Paul Molitor.
He is 99 hits behind the next player on the list, Carl Yastrzemski (3,419) and 110 behind Honus Wagner, who occupies sixth place.
If he can stay healthy, those two might be in reach. :)
