"Your brain on brands". It's just a standard brain function diagram with the word 'brand' added a few times. You could say it's phrenology rebranded.

Nice bit of cherry-picking. Now show us the graph for the past 150 years.

If The great flood of 1862 happened now, it would be blamed on global warming

Re: Thought Provoking Graphs
What was claimed other than California experiencing drought conditions currently?

Re: Thought Provoking Graphs
Seems to me, but I could be wrong, there was an implied claim (based on the thread title) that the three years you posted were in some way noteworthy or "thought provoking"?
California has a long history of such droughts. What you posted is nothing new.
So perhaps I simply missed the point you hoped to make.
On the other hand, your post did provoke some thoughts in my head, so you got that going for you.

Re: Thought Provoking Graphs
What implied claim? Can you point it out? I can see no claim, implied or otherwise other than that "there's a bit of a nasty drought" at the moment. There is nothing to support anything else.
Bizarre. Perhaps witness can help us out by explaining what his implied yet intangible claim was other than "there's a drought."
Well it is new because it's this year. And the level of current "dryness" is kinda thought provoking.
I didn't make any point, witness posted the graph.
Madness.
Isn't that wizard.

OOPS. I'm so old . . . I lost track who I was replying to.
In any case, my point was, and still is, there's nothing noteworthy about the current California drought.
But I'm willing to revise my opinion if someone presents a persuasive explanation.

From 1917-1937 California only had two years of normal rainfall

I grew up in Southern California. Inland, away from the beaches.
As a kid, I can’t remember a time when we weren't being warned to be careful about how much water we used.
Even now I get a bit nervous watching Japanese people's profligate water use.

I must admit, witness's graph is conclusive, irrefutable evidence both for and against global warming.

Re: Thought Provoking Graphs
Yeah, I had already seen those long before I posted that. I had my sarcasm hat on when I posted that.
Perhaps I should have been more direct: What thoughts were you hoping to provoke by posting that "graph" about California droughts?
Seriously, what exactly was your point?
Were you hoping that "graph" would be evidence of something ominous?
Seriously, what exactly was your point?

For such a matter-of-fact graphic it indeed generated a lot of thoughts.

From that map of drug overdose death rate . . .
Norway: 4.5 per 100,000
Sweden: 4.7
Finland: 5.3
Denmark: 3.4
England 3.4
Scotland: 9.2
Compare that with San Francisco which had a drug overdose death rate of 80 per 100,000 in 2020.

Not necessary if the point is to show how bad a city is compared to entire European countries.

Re: Thought Provoking Graphs
Fallacy of composition.
The Democrat run city of San Francisco is not representative of the entire USA.

The cherry picking was intentional. I deliberately chose San Francisco as my target of scorn.
Further clarification: I was not making any kind of argument where cherry picking would be a fallacy.
But thanks for noticing, and for bumping my post.
