Vassal.
So, something I have been playing with a bit lately is something called Vassal. basically its a program that allows users to adapt boardgame and play them via internet. A lot of good games on there. I was wondering if anyone might be interested in trying a game of Arkham Horror on it sometime.

Interesting. Maybe I'll look into it this weekend.
I see they have Axis & Allies, one of my old favorites.
Are there no copyright issues with this?

I don't know about all game companies, but the one that makes Arkham Horror lets people do it so long as they do certain things that make it where at least one player has a physical copy, I.e. No details on certain cards.Anaxagoras wrote:Interesting. Maybe I'll look into it this weekend.

Can usually be gotten around with a wiki, if you don't have a physical copy to refer to

Question, does it have to be all one session or can you play it over several sessions/days? I've tried Arkham Horror board game with some friends and the sessions goes on for hours and usually ends with the all the players dead and the world destroyed. Probably best case scenario for Nyar :P

It could be saved and picked up over several sessions, Because you are right, it can go on for a long long timeGrammatron wrote:Question, does it have to be all one session or can you play it over several sessions/days? Awesome. Maybe next weekend. I'll see if we can get two more players. It's best with four players, IMO

Arkham horror was one of those games I wanted to like... And then was meh.
Lots of fun exploring the locations... But once you know them (have visited the unvisited isle a few times) then the sense of exploration fades and you are left with a game where we found that the great old one nearly always comes out... And then we usually kill it (tommy guns or magic sword as appropriate). Seemed so un lovecraftian.
Anax, if you want axis and allies, the best resource is tripleA . It's free and has all of the published versions plus a bunch of other maps / scenarios/ units.

Eldritch Horror is a much better game, but it isn't on Vassal.
In my games too, the Great Old One almost always comes out too...but we almost always lose to the damned thing. That seems VERY Lovecraftian
