2005 Poker Challenge: Table 2
PLEASE NOTE - This thread is intended for "official" game use only. All manner of discussion, ridicule, and questioning of your intrepid tournament director or the players is welcome, just on a different thread. This will likely be confusing enough as it is. I fully admit that I can do nothing to stop anyone from posting to this thread, but I will become testy and think you are a butt-head. So there...
So, if you don't mind, don't post here unless you are involved, and even then only post when you are taking action. Questions can be asked in other threads. Trash talking in the context of acting is allowed, and perhaps encouraged...
other fun stuff (additions/changes to rules from last time, so for more info see the last challenge initial post)
When PMing advance folds to the dealer, please note the table and hand number you are folding at so that the dealer's slothful failure to keep his PM box clean will cause the fewest accidental folds.
All advance action must be simple. Please no if/then/unless/maybe type instructions with the exception of the big blind who may advance a check/fold instruction. Otherwise stick to single actions, fold being the most realistic, although some may choose to auto call or raise. The dealer will follow instructions literally by the general rules of poker and not apply common sense if the result is absurd, so be warned.
Late entry not available to those knocked out. One entry per person and that persons array of sockpuppets. An eliminated player may substitute/replace at the discretion of the dealer. The dealer's only concern would be an attempt to get around the one entry rule, such as getting someone to play just to quit and give you the seat. So don't do that. Allowing free do-overs will alter the whole strategy of the initial stages.
A player can be "sitting out" by either going over the 24 hr time limit or by notifying the dealer that the player will be absent. The dealer will fold a "sitting out" players hand if there is a bet to that player, check if no bet.
A player rejoins the game by posting a message to the thread that the player has returned. If this is done by PM it is not in effect until the dealer posts such a note, and if the dealer does not for some reason post before the players turn, the hand is folded. This is so the player before the sitting out player can act with knowledge of the status of the following player.
Long absence can be handled in 3 ways. A player can simply sit out, nominate a substitute, or can provide the dealer an "all in bot," a list of hands the player will move all in, all other hands to be folded. Unexplained absences of 15 days result in possible replacement. If nobody can be found your chips will be anted/blinded off.
There will be seats held open until we are down to one table, for purpose of both late entry and table balancing as we lose players. Just skip those seats as they have no real effect on the game. Last time I just deleted them, but then again that was more or less just a final table.
Since tables were randomly assigned, the button goes to the first seated player.

Just in case MLynn is confused, this is a "check."bjornart wrote:call
Little impromptu poker usage note:
When there is no bet to you or you are first to act you can "bet X" or "check" if you chose not to bet.
When there is a bet to you, you can "call" the bet or "raise" the bet or "fold" to the bet.
So some may be confused to see a "raise" or a "call" when there has been no previous bet in a particular round. In almost all cases these are in effect a "bet" or a "check."
So no problem, just wanted to clarify...
