"Netflix Original" meant something until 2018.

This 12 billion dollar investment ruined Netflix. :(
Called it.

Netflix is collapsing as subscriptions are being canceled in record numbers.

Netflix is still the best streaming service, but they have followed the path of cable. They invested billions, focused on quantity over quality, and started cranking out garbage.

The moment their subscriptions and stock took a nose dive, they blamed their customers for sharing passwords, and reacted by announcing they would be adding advertisements to their services, which is the last remaining redeeming feature of their service.

There are more streaming services now, but none of them have any competitive advantages over Netflix. The streaming platform is less than a year away from replicating all the evils of the cable platform.

In all likelihood, I will be canceling all my streaming subscriptions within a year, but I have nothing else to fill the void. Guess I'll have to try heroine. I hear its more entertaining and less expensive than Netflix. Less addictive too.

Yes. A year from now, I'll be blaming Netflix for my heroine habit. Thanks, Netflix.

Incidentally, finished Killing Eve. Man, watta disappointment. First two seasons were great, last two sucked. really sucked.

Just picked up on Succession. Excellent work. Worth a binge.

I never did pirating before. Guilty conscious and personal moral code, but after getting repeatedly fucked over by banks, insurance, employer, and pretty much everything I pay for that calls itself a "service", I'm not far from slapping on a eyepatch and saying arrrr.

Arrrr ....

I recall some self serving son of a bitch apologist bastard in the employ of the film studios explaining how pirating takes money out of the mouths of the crew because of "residuals". Jonny Depp gets residuals, 4th unit script girl gets nothing.

I see that. Used to be fairly easy but now they have sliced and diced everything to that the convenience factor is outweighed by everything being monetized.

Succession. Very well acted and reasonably intelligent scripts.

Will be looking into https://www.hbo.com/we-own-this-city

Written by the guys that gave us the Wire. We shall see if they got woke, this makes me nervous:
It examines the corruption and moral collapse that befell an American city in which the policies of drug prohibition and mass arrest were championed at the expense of actual police work.
You can generally tell woke bullshit in the first 10 minutes or so.

I’ve not been watching but saw this headline :

“ Inclusion Of January 6th Footage In Star Trek: Strange New Worlds: “Part Of Star Trek Is Staying Relevant Without Preaching”

“ the premiere of Alex Kurtzman’s new Star Trek: Strange New Worlds features protagonist Captain Pike declaring that the Capitol Hill riots of January 6th, 2021, were the first steps in humanity’s march to nuclear war.”

Funny thing, is they all, including the Japanese Original Star Trek, try to add messages. It just appears that the messages are insincere virtue signalling.

Thinking about that, there were always bad and forced messaging. Star Trek famously had to fight to have female characters, let alone characters who were not "White Anglo-Saxon Protestant." I sometimes wonder if "the Suits" knew that the two principle actors were Jewish! Perhaps with the progress made over the decades, these forced attempts just seem so much more obvious in comparison.

The Offer.

As recommended by former caporegime, now Sometimes Irritating Christian, Michael Franzese on the making of The Godfather.

Very well cast.

They nail Robin Evans. At first I was not sure, but after a few scenes I thought I was listening to The Kid Stays in the Picture.

They also cast Fat Men to play Puzzo and Coppola.
