The bad news is the moon sheered off the tip of Mount Everest and due to all the gravity wierdness, the top half of the Chrysler building also ended up on Mount Everest. Once the nanobots were defeated, the moon returned to its regular orbit within minutes, but the Tibetans are suiing Haley for ruining their tourism industry.
I made up one fact in the above summay. Only one. If you want to know which one, watch the movie. It helps if you imagine a laugh-track while watching.

Maybe.
It's a fictional world, so you can't prove the fictional Tibetans aren't pissed about Chrysler building debris on their mountain.

Re: What have you been watching lately
I've been binge watching John Oliver video and learning gory details of how America is collapsing. Last Week Tonight, in my opinion, is better journalism than The Daily Show and Colbert Report combined. It's delivered as a parody, but it really isn't. I knew some of what was going on in the mental health industry and the trucking industry, but holy shit, no wonder there's a critical shortage of truckers and mental health doctors.
John Oliver shines the spotlight on critical problem that news organizations won't touch because that would make their huge list of corporate sponsors look bad, so they all just join the capitalist rhetoric. So yeah, young people are just lazy and done want to work minimum wage, with a college degree, while living with their parents, cause rent and mortgages are more than their total paycheck. 🙄

Coherence.

I'll be curious to know what you think. I watched about 20 min. and thought that it was immensely contrived.

Re: What have you been watching lately
It's a bit slow because they're dividing screen time among several characters. Makes it harder to "know" the players. The basic theme of greed is developing. I could agree that they're stretching what could be a 3-hour movie into a series. Acting is pretty good overall, some better than others. Keep getting into the "Who is this character now?" questions but eh, we'll be informed eventually. We watch half an episode at dinner. Sometimes I can't make out what they're saying--maybe I need hearing augmentation. Production values extremely good. Not something I'd binge though.

Re: What have you been watching lately
I kinda have trouble finding any reason to like any of the characters so far.
Galadriel seems like an idiot, not the wise Lady of the Forest of her later years.
"This isn't a sigil, it's a map!"
Halbrand is apparently a violent thief. When did stealing become something to be celebrated?

The writing is still not on par. It may be better but still very week. I may return to it after the entire season is out.Hotarubi wrote: ↑Sun Sep 11, 2022 2:37 amEveryone wants an "opening shock." Apart from Galadriel's obsession its all arc development with the odd monster thrown in.Grammatron wrote: ↑Thu Sep 08, 2022 6:19 pmIt's beautifully done but seems empty; not soul nor heart in the story.
Ep3 was much better than the two openers.

I agree. All of the characters are dull and lack depth. The least dull is the friendly banter between Elrond and Durin, but it's a carbon copy of the relationship between Gimli and Legolas.Anaxagoras wrote: ↑Sun Sep 25, 2022 12:50 pm I kinda have trouble finding any reason to like any of the characters so far.

And the mystery of Adar and meteor man is getting irritating. Are they Gandalf and Saruman in infant form or not. Hrmph.
Waiting for something amazing to happen, but so far, just pretty scenary.

Re: What have you been watching lately
Meteor man should neither be Gandalf nor Saruman (Third age arrival in Middle Earth) as the timeline is wrong. If they are following canon (uhuh) and it is indeed a wizard, it would be either Alatar or Pallando (second age arrival - according to Tolkien's later writings.)

It's either Sauron or the Blue Wizard. Or the show is worse than I thought.Hotarubi wrote: ↑Wed Sep 28, 2022 10:48 amMeteor man should neither be Gandalf nor Saruman (Third age arrival in Middle Earth) as the timeline is wrong. More fagness:
Again, can't be Sauron if canon is followed. Gil-galad would have already met the second age visage of Sauron 300 odd years earlier. Unless...unless the meteor-man's arc with teh oirish Hobbitses is non-linear with the rest of the show. Yet the showrunners deny doing this - but they might just be saying that.
Confused? You won't be after this week's episode of...
FTFY for the sake of pedantry.Grammatron wrote: ↑Wed Sep 28, 2022 6:43 pm

Re: What have you been watching lately
Before the movies came out, I read the Hobbit and Lord of the Rings because my only other reference to Tolkien's works was DnD and those horrible 70s cartoon movies.
I found the books to be painfully dull. Tolkien spent 90% of the time describing the scenery and the food and 1% of the time advancing the story. I don't remember the other 9% because I slept through it. Reading Tolkien is like reading a detailed account of the most boring camping trip ever. In fact, all of tge action in the movies amounts to a handful of pages in the books.
At one point, I thought of reading his other books because someone told me they were better. I actually likes the movies better than the books, but this TV show is not making me want to read the books, and frankly, neither are the folks on this forum.
I'm sorely disappointed at the complete lack of Tom Bombadil in any of the movies or the TV show. I like to think Tom was Tolkien temporarily experimenting with drugs, then sobering up and pretending it never happened.

Yeah, but that is an acute subdural hematoma and before diagnosing him with dementia they should have obtained a CT scan which would show he had a chronic subdural hematoma.
[It could be an acute on chronic subdural. – Ed.]
But where is the low attenuation indicating the chronic subdural?
What?

P.S. And That Guy from Squid Game.
