Re: Sorry to Make You Cry XV
I didn't get to watch cuz I'm at work but it looks like it was a fun game to watch. I'm glad the Chiefs finally won. I think anyone who isn't a hardcore Niners fan was probably rooting for the Chiefs to win this one. I was anyway.

Re: Sorry to Make You Cry XV
I won a $25 final score strip card (meaning $225 winnings) so I'm good!

Re: Sorry to Make You Cry XV
Congrats to our winner and thanks for another fun year!
Another new rule suggestion, proposed for next year.
Time to Cry (obviously a different name can be picked, that's just a suggestion)
If two or more players are eligible for the Dipshit Bonus coming into the Super Bowl, they may forego both that bonus and the opportunity to Radrick gamble, and instead wager any number of points up to their current total. Chose poorly and lose the declared number of points. Choose wisely and gain that number of points.

Re: Sorry to Make You Cry XV
It’s rigged. Ha.
Thx DocX for another great sporting event. Gambling without losing money. That’s a win. As I say at the end of every season, “Wait til next year”. Go Cubs.

Re: Sorry to Make You Cry XV
Hmmmm . . . my problem with that is Perpetual Losers like, well, you [Stop that! – Ed.], well myself other years could just bet everything to fuck with all of the leaders. Now the ones who picked wisely/lucky all during the season face the fear of having to risk all of that because someone with a 20+ deficit decides to "bet it all."gnome wrote: ↑Mon Feb 03, 2020 6:02 amTime to Cry (obviously a different name can be picked, that's just a suggestion)

However, I do see the desire to keep things competitive within reason "'til the end."

Re: Sorry to Make You Cry XV
That is my interest. If a variation will accomplish the same, maybe some other idea. My envisioning of this method was sort of the idea that managing to collect both Super Bowl teams gets you into "Final Jeopardy" as it were. But I think you could be right that a 50/50 chance puts too much pressure on the leader, who should have an advantage.

Re: Sorry to Make You Cry XV
I'm not endorsing the idea, but if we did go that route, I think there should be a limit to how much you can bet (25 maybe). If there were a way to make a sealed bid, it might add a bit more drama. Might be doable with PMs. Unlike other weeks, everyone's pick for the Super Bowl could be a secret pick. We'd have to draft someone to be the "designated custodian of the Super Bowl picks" or whatever, particularly if Doctor X is in the lead or in the running to win. Like, it could be whoever is in last place or something like that, so that knowing other's picks doesn't really help them.

I am interested in the final scores, if that is coming. And the movie pick!

I don't think this is a good idea. Solely for the reason that someone who has played "better" than someone else for 20 odd weeks gets busted by a desperate gamble.gnome wrote: ↑Mon Feb 03, 2020 6:02 am Congrats to our winner and thanks for another fun year!

Kind of like letting the Browns play in the Superbowl after a 2-10 season if they beat the Patriots in the last game of the regular season.

Re: Sorry to Make You Cry XV
That's why I suggested a limit to how much you can wager, and also making the picks a secret.
I'm fine with the way it is, but there wasn't really any drama in the last few weeks this year. If you want to keep it "interesting" it's an idea.

I'm coming around to that point. How to preserve the front-runner's advantage but still make the Superb Owl interesting? Eh, it's not like it happens every year that someone's this far ahead.Hotarubi wrote: ↑Sun Feb 16, 2020 12:18 amI don't think this is a good idea. I got it! I got it!
Moral Victory: Second place loserwinner gets to.... to....
Fuck, I lost it.
But you get the idea--even if the winner is mathematically settled, if there is some token at stake for second place it could increase drama.

OMFG you people are taking this game way too seriously. The game is fine as it is, and Doctor X does a splendid job of administering it!
I would, however, suggest the addition of "Brownnose Points" for those who relentlessly suck up to the dear Doctor.

Not surprised. He now enters the Brett Favre phase of his career.

I honestly don't care. I already wrote him off weeks ago. I think wherever he goes, he's going to prove that being the G.O.A.T. is not enough to win a Superb Owl all by yourself. Perhaps we now enter the Jarrett Stidham era, only time will tell.

Re: Sorry to Make You Cry XV
So it's official then, Brady has signed with the Buccaneers.
https://www.buccaneers.com/news/tom-bra ... oster-move
https://www.buccaneers.com/news/tom-bra ... oster-move
Brady replaces Jameis Winston as the Buccaneers' starting quarterback, with Winston also becoming an unrestricted free agent for the first time. In his fifth and final season at the helm in Tampa Bay, Winston threw for 5,109 yards and 33 touchdowns but was also intercepted 30 times, with seven of those returned for touchdowns. Winston was the first player in NFL history to throw 30 touchdown passes and 30 interceptions in the same season.

A thought--could Brady leaving the Pats for the Bucs be an example of a transfer causing the performance of both to increase?
