Re: Climate Change/Global Warming Hysteria with graphs!
The simplest thing involving weather, which leads to climate, might be snow
Sure, rain, wind, sunshine hours, clouds and temperature also seem simple, but snow has a special place in climate.
Ice forming on bodies of water might be even simpler, but much harder to measure, and way less data
Snow on the other hand, has a multitude of information, and there is a lot more of it to study

Re: Climate Change/Global Warming Hysteria with graphs!
Frost, freezes, and hard freezes also tell us a lot about climate. Because of agriculture and the laws of physics, they are like snow, pretty hard for any current global warming expert to impeach.
(Not that they don’t try)
I know, I know, boring as fuck. There isn’t much to be done about this
It’s the goddamn weather, most people don’t farm and unless you ski/snowboard, most people just have other shit to think about

Re: Climate Change/Global Warming Hysteria with graphs!
The defining moment for me, was simply watching the weather report in DC after the second blizzard shut everything down in the US capital
And I mean everything was shut down
The US post office was shut down for the first time in history
Of course the two news anchors were looking forward to the weather guy when he started his report
He was sitting at the news desk with them
Outside everything was quiet, not a single vehicle was moving, and a snow blower wasn’t going to work on the four feet of snow
Some places had more, some less, but it was a fuckton of snow
It was more snow than almost anyone had ever experienced
So when he told the world “but it wasn’t even a record breaker”, the anchors heads swiveled, there jaws dropped, everything went off script for a moment
The anchors actually interrupted him! An unplanned moment, it was fucking epic
He stammered and explained quickly that the snow records have to come from somewhere and that Reagan National is where they measure the official snow measurements are and blah blah blah
The anchors composed themselves and let it drop
But any rational person could see this was some seriously fucked up bullshit going down
Now of course there is more to the story
It was an unheard of back to back blizzards, with heavy bands of snow from the second one, so the snow depth varied
And the second on fell on top of the 2 to 3 feet of powder from the first one, and the second blizzard was wet snow, not powder, but the ordinary person knew what was outside, and nobody was going to buy that there was no record being broke
And this sad fucking little story started my long descent into madness
The truth was out there, and I had to know

Has there been global cooling over the last 30 years?
No.

Been too busy
I thought the lockdown would mean a shit ton of time at home
Turned out meant even more money and work
Don’t worry, graphs and science and shit will come

"Win" by exhaustion. Not an actual evidence based result.Abdul Alhazred wrote: ↑Sat Jun 27, 2020 1:58 pm 23 pages is a pretty good run for a thread that was dead on arrival.
so robinson wins, but it kind of doesn't count because it's 100% his game from OP forward.
And it will never die as long as electrons flow through robinson's "brain". :)

Re: Climate Change/Global warming with graphs and science shit thrown in
I agree with you. Something I found early in was a serious lack of the scientific method when it comes to the BGWT
And related matters
It bothered me

A real theory makes predictions, and is clear about what experiments or observations of reality would support or destroy the theory

It’s interesting (to me of course) that the BGWT was destroyed three times, but is once again on the table

What is this horseshit BGWT of which you speak? I just searched it up and even Googly didn't know...Therefore methinks you're, once again, full of shit.
Please prove me wrong.

The BEST project was intended to prove the science wrong and the temperature statistics false. In the end it had to conclude the scientists were right and the 'skeptics' were wrong.

Re: Climate Change/Global warming with graphs and science shit thrown in
It’s hard jumping into long topic with terminology and shit like that, I understand. I explained early on, but of course you missed it.
Scientist are really annoying because they abbreviate shit, which saves a lot of time, but fucking hell if you don’t know what they are saying
It’s like there is this barrier so if you are not in the club, good luck keeping up

Have you ever run across BP, or RCYBP? https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Before_Presentrobinson wrote: ↑Mon Mar 30, 2020 12:54 am Putting these to rest
A) Doubt that a warming trend is occurring at all.
The question is not exact enough for an answer.
B)Agree that there is a warming trend but doubt that it is significantly driven by human activity
Can’t be answered for same reason
C)Agree that there is a warming trend that is significantly driven by human activity, but that we are choosing the wrong solutions.
Can’t be answered same reason.
“A warming trend” is not scientific. My skepticism is specific, about many things being claimed, based on the basic global warming theory. BGWT
Claims about the BGWT, using computer models, and even old fashioned calculations, were the first thing I looked at.
In the ten years since that epic winter, a lot more data has been gathered. One thing that BGWT definitely predicts (not a projection) is the most warming will be observed in winter, with the most warming happening over land, at extra tropical latitudes, and high elevations. And at night.
This is simple to explain. CO2 caused warming (carbon) is supposed to be happening where water vapor (WV) isn’t overwhelming any carbon effect. WV usually dominates any carbon heating, the original objection to the BGWT
Plass and others brought the theory back showing a carbon effect at high altitudes, where the dry air is free from WV, and this led to calculations and the BGWT coming back as the main driver of climate change (explaining the ice ages)
So while the ice ages were once again explained by the BGWT, a water vapor feedback was added to try and explain some of the unsolved parts of the theory.
The biggest problem was, and still is, how can an ice age start the glacier building phase when carbon is at the peak levels? Just because the AGW theory replaced BGWT as the dominating factor, did not make this huge problem go away.
If you are objecting already to these statements, which is most often the case, you may get be in over your head already.
It’s like there is this barrier so if you are not in the club, good luck keeping up

TLDR
BGWT = basic global warming theory

If I just play dumb, then no one can ever prove anything to me.
"“A warming trend” is not scientific. " It is scientific, it is being measured now. Look up the BEST project. I doubt you will because you put all your energy into being a lazy cynic and not actually working at learning anything.

And, I fixed my computer, the one I lost right after I started this topic
The problem is time and energy
Plus knowing nothing is going to change a believer, especially not facts and science

Our Quixotic way has often been to try anyhow. I still think there's value in the effort.
