Re: Meghan and Harry thread
For that kind of money they could produce another Game of Thrones. That was HBO of course, but supposedly for the first 5 seasons, the cost was about $6 million per episode on average, with a few like the Battle of the Blackwater costing up to $8 million. In later seasons I think the cost increased because several of the key actors had become famous and could demand to be paid more. But yeah, for about $60 million you could probably produce something really special, on par with GoT. :|

For people who berate the Megster for publicity seeking, you sure can't stop jabbering about her.
Still, she'll now earn more in three months than those that are hostile toward her earn in a lifetime.
Perfect.

She's already getting paid. When you subscribe to Netflix you are essentially paying for all of their content, even the stuff you don't choose to actually watch.Abdul Alhazred wrote: ↑Thu Oct 01, 2020 8:31 pm Meanwhile she's free entertainment.
It remains to be seen whether anyone will actually pay to see her perform.

Re: Meghan and Harry thread
While it is not known which survey Meghan was referring to in the podcast, a study by Online.Casino.ca which was published in February found the Duchess was the third most trolled person, rather than the first.
The site analysed a total of 500,000 tweets in the study, and the list is organised according to which celebrity has the highest number of negative tweets written about them.
Anyway, we can all ignore the claim as Piers Moron, in another irrational fume, says it is not true.

Re: Meghan and Harry thread
Charlie Hebdo is an outgrowth of Hara-Kiri mensuel, "journal bête et méchant" (Hara-Kiri monthly, stupid and mean paper) and first called "Hara-Kiri hebdo" (HK weekly), then changing its name when banned.
From the Wiki page:
:mrgreen:Hara-Kiri Hebdo becomes Charlie Hebdo
In November 1970, following the death of Charles de Gaulle at his home in Colombey-les-Deux-Églises, the weekly Hara-Kiri Hebdo bore the headline « Bal tragique à Colombey : 1 mort » (Eng: "Tragic ball in Colombey: 1 death").
By way of contradistinction, the choice of the title refers to the far greater loss of life the same month: a fire at a discothèque in which 146 mostly young people died. The government felt this editorial choice was an offence of lèse-majesté against the deceased President, and its then minister of the interior Raymond Marcellin ordered an immediate and permanent ban on publicity and on sale to minors.
Charlie Hebdo was started immediately afterwards. Charlie in the title refers to General de Gaulle (said Georges Wolinski); but it was also the name of another magazine from Éditions du Square Charlie Mensuel, named after the character Charlie Brown from Charles M. Schulz's Peanuts.

Sun investigator says he illegally obtained information about Meghan
A private investigator employed by the Sun has said he illegally accessed the Duchess of Sussex’s private information shortly after she met Prince Harry.
Dan Hanks, who lives in Los Angeles, told the website Byline Investigates that he compiled a 90-page report on the future member of the royal family in October 2016, shortly after the tabloid newspaper first became aware of her relationship with the prince.
The information sent to the Sun’s US editor allegedly included relatives’ phone numbers, background information on her ex-husband, and also Meghan’s personal social security number. Although much of the information could have been obtained legally, Hanks claims he took it from a database that could not legally be used for journalistic purposes.
Hanks told the New York Times that the the Sun made him sign a letter stating he would not use any illegal methods to locate people or do background checks: “Then the reporters came back to me and said, ‘But if you want to get work, keep doing what you’ve been doing,’ with a nod and a wink.”
The Sun strongly denies this and said it had a written agreement with Hanks that he would not break the law while working for the news outlet and did not know he had done so. The newspaper’s publisher said they stopped using Hanks’ services in 2017 after he was sent to jail after being found guilty of extortion in an unrelated case.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have been at war with the British tabloids over the last two years, with Meghan successfully suing the Mail on Sunday after it published a private letter she sent to her estranged father. Their interview with Oprah Winfrey has also started a national conversation about racism in the British media that has claimed the jobs of both Piers Morgan and the boss of the Society of Editors, the media industry body.
Prince Harry is pursuing phone hacking legal cases against the publishers of both the Sun and the Mirror.

https://www.theguardian.com/uk-news/202 ... -executivePrince Harry joins $1bn Silicon Valley startup as senior executive
Duke of Sussex’s first formal role since ending royal duties involves ‘meaty role’ as chief impact officer at BetterUp
Prince Harry has been given a job by a $1bn (£730m) Silicon Valley startup which provides professional coaching, mental health advice and “immersive learning” as its chief impact officer.
The Duke of Sussex said he hoped to be able to use his own experiences using the “the power of transforming pain into purpose” to help BetterUp’s clients with “proactive coaching” for personal development, as well as achieve “an all-round better life”.
It is the Duke’s first formal position at a private company since he stepped down from being a working member of the royal family a year ago.
Harry and his wife, Meghan, have also signed multimillion-dollar deals to provide content for Spotify and Netflix.
As chief impact officer at BetterUp Prince Harry will help with driving awareness of the need to improve mental health provision, work on product strategy, and advise on charitable collaborations. Harry has already worked closely with mental health charities.
He founded the Invictus Games, an event for injured or sick armed service personnel to use sport as part of their psychological and physical rehabilitation, and launched Sentebale, a charity that supports the mental health and wellbeing of young people affected by HIV in Lesotho and Botswana.

So apparently the "long anticipated" (by some, not me) Netflix special is about to drop.ceptimus wrote: ↑Thu Sep 03, 2020 1:33 pm She's signed a multi-million dollar deal with Netflix.

But she had to leave the UK because she couldn't stand the "intrusive press coverage".
Can anyone glean any slight meaning from that mess of verbiage? Does it give anyone a glimmer of an idea as to what work the couple might actually do to earn their millions from Netflix? Answers please. Our lives, both independent of each other, and as a couple have allowed us to understand the power of the human spirit: of courage, resilience, and the need for connection.
Through our work with diverse communities and their environments, to shining a light on people and causes around the world, our focus will be on creating content that informs but also gives hope.
As new parents, making inspirational family programming is also important to us, as is powerful storytelling through a truthful and relatable lens.
