Rule Question
I noticed that if one chooses the last game of a week, MNF, one cannot really use The Mulligan [Tm. – Ed.].
I wondered about allowing The Mulligan [Available on 8-track and cassette. – Ed.], in that specific case to carry over to the next week.
Thoughts?

Hmm. I can see how that would be a problem but the loser still loses a week?
What are the chances of an izittrue Jinxed My Pick Automatic Mulligan?
Hold it! Wait! Watch the suit! Hey, I need those Ray-Bans!

What about allowing a pre mulligan? Select a game to use in case the Monday night game is a bust. Granted, the game would have already been played, but so what?
In the distinct possibility that I have no idea what I’m talking about, sorry.

Re: Sorry to Make You Cry XVI
Well, I have always considered that if you declare a Mulligan, you have used it.
This would benefit moi since, effectively, I could pick two games this coming week. Obviously, the Mulligan could t3h FAIL. No one seems to want to "game the system"; if someone wants to pick two games in a week, they would have to waste a pick on the previous weeks MNF.
Obviously, this cannot work with the last week. You cannot carry over Mulligans into the Playoffs?! PLAYOFFS?!! Of course, if you have not used one by then you probably have nothing to complain about!

Re: Sorry to Make You Cry XVI
I dunno... having to choose when there's a later game that might be worth using the mulligan is part of one's strategy. Games are more interesting when you have to make decisions like that. So I would be against a "pre-mulligan". Without that I would probably pay zero attention to when games are played in relation to each other in the same week.

Re: Sorry to Make You Cry XVI
Oh, you can always "Pre-Mulligan." A few will do that when they know they cannot be around to play it after the first game. The point is that you have used it even if you "win" your first game; you cannot take back the Mulligan.
The question is whether or not in the special case of MNF if one can use the Mulligan the following week. Obviously, you have to pick before the relevant game.

I like it better that if you want to pick the Monday game, you choose a different week to put up your mulligan.Doctor X wrote: ↑Thu Sep 24, 2020 3:22 am Oh, you can always "Pre-Mulligan." If they mulligan MNF they would get to make two picks the following week? Ehhh. That disrupts the ability to have a clear standing each week IMO.

Re: Sorry to Make You Cry XVI
In the past I have sometimes avoided picking the Monday Night game while I still have a mulligan for exactly that reason. It's also why I like to pick Thursday Night games if I still have the mulligan.
Once you use it up though, it no longer matters.
I guess it's a bit late to propose this rule change since the season has already started, but I kinda think the points for the ITR bonus (when a head coach is fired) should be reduced a little bit. Currently it's 10, 5 and 2. Maybe 8, 4 and 2? (I don't think any head coach has already been fired this season, but it could happen soon.)

I like ITR bonus, it's a good gamble. Sure you can pick an obvious dumpster fire, but then the owner is waiting for a specific coach and/or picks and doesn't mind tanking. And you are stuck with a 0 or 1 win team when you could have snagged some points. Or you get it in week 2. Such is life.

Re: Sorry to Make You Cry XVI
Tanking for a higher draft pick? Seems like a bit of a waste in the NFL because it takes so many players to make a football team. It's not like basketball where 2 or 3 good players (or even one if it's a Michael Jordan) can make a dynasty.

Re: Sorry to Make You Cry XVI
Mulligans should only be used in the current week. If you pick Monday’s game and lose so be it. My humble opinion

Re: Sorry to Make You Cry XVI
Exception noted.
The idea was to allow a “do over.” I thought it would be too weird for the playoffs. I just never considered the problem with picking the last game of a week.

Re: Sorry to Make You Cry XVI
I agree with izittrue. In thinking about, Monday game is really just a late game in the week and should not get any special privileges. Just like Thursday game being the earliest does not nor should matter.

There is nothing "special" about it. Not being able to use a Mulligan with it is what makes it "special."

Re: Sorry to Make You Cry XVI
I've always considered the Mulligan as something to be used strategically. I usually hold on to it until near the end when trying to pick up a team that has won a lot.

Re: Sorry to Make You Cry XVI
There's some rumblings about postponing the Titans game. Made me think we should discuss some rule variation in case it keeps happening.

Re: Sorry to Make You Cry XVI
Yeah, sort have been thinking about it.
I guess that one can reserve a pick if they really want it, then it applies when and if the game happens. The problem, of course, is if the game is delayed after other games, a few key players could get injured and that.
Fortunately, no one has picked one yet.
Well, let me see what Youse Guys think about it before I start thinking out loud.
