The Craftsmen Thread
Let this thread be about our brothers and sisters with excellent linkage between left and right brain.
My personal favorites are machinists who just barely beat woodworkers. (a machinist works with tolerances 100 times as stringent as the woodworker but the results are rarely as 'pretty').
Here's one guy I love. How 'bout you give him a like.

Aw man I have two items very similar that my Dad made, and Dad was a machinist. Gave the guy a like.

Same here, or at least I have some of them, including a vintage Vise-Grip upon which he roughly engraved his nickname. Also one of his "mikes".

machinist tools do not depreciate. they hold their value in constant dollars. Sell them on ebay. they'll bring a mint...
tools don't like being stuck in a drawer. They want to be used;

Re: The Craftsmen Thread
I watch a lot! of hobby machinist vids. I'd be a machinist in a second life. I love the precision. it fits well with my somewhat* obsessive-compulsive personality.
This chick named Blondie (real name Quin) is my second favorite (second only to This Old Tony). She's something of a big fucking deal in the digital electronics hardware hacker world. Multifaceted? certainly deburred. I love her subtle self deprecating humor. I support her on patreon. give her a view and a like.

I always thought you were a former machinist mate*, Rob. 🙂 What a crazy assumption.

Lousey picture, sadly, but it shows the metalwork. The thing with old guns is the hybrid nature of metal and wood.

Re: The Craftsmen Thread
If I had to do it again, I would have been, for sure. I am a great (liar) mechanic in general; good with my hands and tools, but I never really developed my manual skill sets. I should have.
I was an Aviation Electronic Technician. Worked all levels up through the ranks, organizational (on the jets), intermediate (in the boxes out of the jets), supervisor (30-60 man work centers), Navy instructor (small class sizes 8-12 in 30-60 day courses), and when senior, as a curriculum developer of those type courses.
I so fucking loved the navy until I got married midway through my career; a wife at home destroys both a good time and a paycheck, lol.
For sure it fucking made a man of me.
I was so fucking glad to retire but I sure do have many, many wonderful memories...and outright unabashed pride with some of my better successes, no matter how few those.
