Replication woes

Interesting...

https://www.theobserver.ca/2015/09/04/l ... esearchers
At Western, LeBel tried to replicate four studies, even increasing sample sizes and repeating efforts, but none produced results claimed in the original. His faculty adviser suggested he stop.

“You’re throwing people under the bus. You’re going to create a lot of enemies,” LeBel said he was told.

Instead, LeBel pushed harder, creating a website, psychdisclosure.org, and asked scientists to reveal all evidence and methods and not just what had been published in leading journals. Though his website triggered some hate mail, enough scientists shared what he sought that last year the journal Psychological Science increased reporting standards and cited LeBel’s work as a reason.

“I’m crazy enough to put scientific views above self-interest,” LeBel said.

That sentiment prompted him to create a second website, Curatescience.org, where scientists are encouraged to publish replication studies and link them to the originals. The site also includes links to data so other scientists can check work, too, and will soon allow researchers to run cloud-based analysis online.

I thought the thread referred to your sad lack of success at producing an offspring.

It's been almost six years since that story was published.

[ . . . looks at watch . . . ]

Let me know when it's OK to start.

Heh . . . I read this as "Republican woes."

But, yeah, I mean recall the Fleschman(n) & Pons fiasco [Cold Fusion. – Ed.]. One of the first problems [Yes, We have No Neutrinos – Ed.] {Shhh!} is that no one could replicate their claimed results. There are many others.
