So, Mrs. Camel's old Acer 63470Z, which I built from spares and repairs acquired from eBay for about £100 and has given good service for about seven years, finally bit the dust. Being a good husband, I treated her to a brand new Lenovo and was left musing about what to do with the old machine, (I hate throwing things away.) My best diagnosis was that the motherboard had gone tits up, so I took a chance and spent £35 on a replacement.
Much cursing later, (my poor old eyes aren't really up to working on laptops now}, here the old girl is, Windows 10 bloatware removed and memory maxed out. All Mrs. Camel's data has been recovered and transferred to her new machine and all that remains to be done is to fit a new 1 TB SSD which is on order but delayed due to the Kung Flu, Brexit and other shit like that.
I'm really rather proud of myself, and now have a decent, spare machine upon which I can watch my enormous collection of ancient SciFi movies when unable to sleep. :)

Re: Reincarnation!
Well, to be fair, they're not exactly crap. It depends on what you want the machine to do. They're fine for nattering on the Interwebz and low-level tasks but, should you wish to do anything that takes a lot of processing power, like video editing, forget it.

Re: Reincarnation!
Well, the SSD finally arrived and, much waiting later, all has been transferred from the old drive. I also managed to get hold of the fastest processor the motherboard can handle and a new screen. So, for a total outlay of £160, I've got a pretty capable machine with a 1 terabyte SSD. Room for tons of porn, err, I mean SciFi. :)
