Re: Sorry to Make You Cry XVII
I wonder if Brady will retire now. I could think of worse ways to go out, and there's no guarantee that he'll win another Lombardy if he tries again next year. He led the NFL in passing yards, completions and touchdowns. Not a bad final season should he choose to retire.

Re: Sorry to Make You Cry XVII
Indeed to your point Gram. I missed this since I did not refresh when I posted:
It is all about the bling.
So:
But I have no idea what the team will look like next year. That is what led him to leave New England, ultimately. They could no longer build "The Team" around him. It seems silly, but last year and this year may have been another "one and done" for playoffs.
But who knows.
– J.D.
I do not know. He is making his legacy that harder to match with every game he plays. He lived through comparisons with The Quarter Back . . . of DESTiNY until it became silly. Montana remained "better" until he not only surpassed his post-season, he destroyed his regular season. People talk about rapists Kobe and Michael, but none of them got close to Bill Russell.
It is all about the bling.
So:
But what does he do next? He is tied into his quack beliefs so the longer he plays, the better his brand plays. I think he might have considered it if he had gone on to win another SB. However, to be realistic, it all depends on whether or not he thinks his team can "make it" next year. If he thinks they can, he will stay. If not, he may do as you write.I could think of worse ways to go out, and there's no guarantee that he'll win another Lombardy if he tries again next year.
But winning a SB is "better." The funny thing is he is aware that St. Peyton has about nothing to do with his retirement win: it was the defense. Similar to John Elway: it was his run game. So IF he thinks he is about to descend to the level where it is not him, then he may agree with you.Not a bad final season should he choose to retire.

Re: Sorry to Make You Cry XVII
I guess Brady is known for taking team-friendly deals when he could be making more if he drove a hard bargain or was willing to play for whichever team is the highest bidder. He cares more about playing for a winner than he does about making top dollar.

I got Carsehole Bentz.
Twice.
Carson Wentz has a strong Christian faith
Wentz said he relied on his Christian faith to deal with the criticism and excesses that come with being an NFL quarterback.
Did you rely on Jesus getting you sacked 32 times last season then?
Carry on.
Ooh. Bart Starr.

Yes, I believe Jesus was absolutely , personally responsible for the longest sack in playoff history.

https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/331 ... ources-sayTom Brady — often regarded as the greatest professional football player of all time — will retire from the NFL after 22 seasons.
The news was first reported by ESPN and later confirmed by both the NFL and TB12 Sports, the health company developed by Brady.
This Sources guy...Sources said that Brady's decision to retire is based on several factors, including family and health. Although it's less significant, Brady also recognizes that the Buccaneers are likely to undergo significant roster turnover, sources said.

:ni:Despite reports that he is retiring, Tom Brady has told the Tampa Bay Buccaneers he hasn’t made up his mind, two people familiar with the details told The Associated Press.
ESPN first reported Brady’s retirement on Saturday, citing unidentified sources. Brady’s company posted a tweet indicating he’s retiring, and reaction came from around the world congratulating Brady on his career. But the tweet was later deleted, and Brady’s agent, Don Yee, said the 44-year-old quarterback would be the only person to accurately express his future.

Apparently Gisele wanted him to retire too.
Fwiw:
I wonder if he'll play in the Pro Bowl? One last hurrah?

Yeah.
Maybe, like Steven Bryer he was "retired!"
I suspect he did but did not want it leaked before he even told the Brady's Gay Tampa Bay Butt-Pirates . . . not that [Get on with it! – Ed.] or distract from the playoffs and Super Bowl.

Re: Sorry to Make You Cry XVII
I thought it was "official". There was a tweet from TB12 Sports, a company owned by Brady himself.
Oh, wait ...
Tom Brady's Company, TB12 Sports, Deletes Tweet About Star QB's Reported Retirement
Oh, wait ...

So he is retiring, but the announcement was premature? As news broke that Tom Brady is reportedly retiring after 22 seasons in the NFL, his company, TB12 Sports, reacted to the report on Twitter. . . .
The quarterback has reportedly not told coach Bruce Arians of his retirement plans, Arians telling Sports Illustrated's Albert Breer via text message: “No, he hasn't.”
Meanwhile, several sources told NFL Network's Ian Rapaport that the pushback to reports of his retirement appears to be based on timing, rather than the eventual decision.
