Time Spent on Repeat Entertainment

Post by ed »

Back in the day most of what I consumed for entertainment was "new". News, movies, TV, books etc etc. The percentage of stuff that I would re-read/watch was really low, maybe 10% or so?

I have noted that almost 100% of the stuff I watch on TV is stuff I have seen before... True detective, old Brit comedies and so on. I find myself rereading stuff by Evans et al on the wars. Just started rereading MR James.

I was wondering if this is a behavior that is common.

How much of your entertainment consumption is new? I would put mine at <15%

Saw what?

Guy I used to work with, oh, 30 years ago...got in an auto accident, had a severe head injury, after which his long-term memory was gone. He said that one good thing about it was that he didn't have to rent any new videotapes, because he'd forget he watched it.

Dunno, I tend to go to repeats when there's nothing appealing that's current. Then again, I usually discover good stuff 'late '

80/20 in no particular order.

Dad had to watch "Gone with the Wind" twice a day for two years.

That's proper comic tragedy.
