Re: Most people are stupid in some way
I was going to type out my philosophical musings about this
But realized that would be stupid

The inverse of this topic might also be true, but it’s also just a philosophical musing.
Which is why the topic is in Philo and not science
The interesting thing (to myself of course), is that that topic, had it been created, would also contain a string of idiot posts by now

"A man's got to know his limitations." Unfortunately I have to deal with people who don't know theirs, on a daily basis.

Re: Most people are stupid in some way
“The Dunning-Kruger effect is commonly invoked in online arguments to discredit other people’s ideas. The effect states that people who know the least about a topic are the most overconfident about that topic while people who know the most tend to be more humble and accurate in their self-assessment. It seems intuitively right, and it’s often a way to undercut people who present their opinions and arguments with "absolute certainty" that they’re right. The only problem is that the Dunning-Kruger effect itself is wrong.”

Re: Most people are stupid in some way
I think the funniest part is that people who are wrong about the DK EFFECT are not being stupid. Until they hear it’s not real, that’s when the stupidity blossoms
Which is understandable
If you have been using it as a put down for decades, finding out you have been wrong isn’t going to go over well

Yes it bothers certain of my co-workers that they can't "boss" me with regard to programming, because they don't know how it's done, and all they can do is to squawk with exclamation points when something doesn't work as expected. I don't presume to know how to do their jobs but they seem determined to tell me how to do mine.
