I don’t hold myself out as any kind of authority. I came across this video and I was wondering if any of this sounds about right. He presents three different theories.
He doesn’t really talk much about dates either.

The Supplementary Hypothesis does not really work since P is its own separate story. It does not appear to be pieces created to add to another source. Actually, D is that in which you have a "Pre-Josiah He Dead" layer and then the "Oh Fuck He's Dead" layer.
J and E are also rather separate. It is just that it appears that J and E were combined by a redactor(s) at some stage, and E is incomplete. There are some who try to deny the existence of an E layer, but there are, in my mind, too many contradictions between J and E to sustain that.
There are also layers to Leviticus which he does not explore.
Jewish scholars also call it the Pentateuch.
