The World of Suzy Wong

Re-reading a dog-eared copy of this that I inherited from my father. Utterly charming novel set in pre-Chinese Hong Kong.

It was later made into a movie, which I haven't seen, but with predictably poor reviews.

It's hardly "literature", but it does provide a snapshot of a bygone age and a touching love story, (not generally my thing but I was short of something to read.) I'd imagine it was quite risqué for its day, probably why my father bought it.

The novel was adapted into a stage play in 1958 by Paul Osborn, directed by Joshua Logan, produced by David Merrick, and starred William Shatner and France Nuyen.[2][3] Tsai Chin played the title role in the West End 1959 production.
