So when is the guessing going to commence? I am curious because I can't think of a single poster at TOP whose writing style reminds me of Xoupers (Of course, now that I think of it, Xouper never said he ever actually POSTED anything)

P.S. What De_Bunk said.

Obviously I will neither confirm nor deny that my JREF sock puppet has posted anything on that forum. I wouldn't want to make it too easy for you. :)

Nor will I confirm or deny the exact number of JREF sock puppets I have.

Like I told George: "Screw those binge-vomiting asshats that make up JREF. You pathetic, cringing invertebrate."

I said that because he keeps appealing to JREF to reactivate his account. And they just lead him on... send us a SASE, email this secret password, teach the bird to say "here kitty, kitty, kitty".

When I tell President Bush what a leader he was, for once, in getting suspended, well, then he starts slobbering how he'll never win their Language Award now. The driveling palsied sod... is it too late for that creep Santa to grant me a fucking divorce?

Anyone who thought about changing their name in their user profile can't do it now. Those fields have been removed from the user profile control panel, but still exist in the registration form.

That place just gets more draconian all the time. In effect they are punishing the majority of innocent people for the sake of what, keeping a handful of people from putting in false names after the fact? Sheesh.

Is there also a warning to new registrants that once you enter your name you will not be able to change it in the future? I'm sure that will go over big.

Or will you be allowed to change it if you beg properly to the appropriate authority?

Frankly, you'd be doing me a favor if you didn't reactivate my husband's account.

Those of us with fake names have no chance to suddenly see the light, repent, and give our real names in the real spirit of Xmas.

JREF must not ignore the threat gathering against it. Facing clear evidence of peril, it cannot wait for the final proof -- the smoking gun -- that could come in the form of a (heretofore) underutilized observance of the conditions under which the JREF allows Forum Members to actively use their resources.

It's been more than two weeks since the JREF webmaster sent my drooling amoeba of a husband a letter saying this:

Thanks very much for sending me this SASE. If you'll send email to jeff@randi.org with the word queerasa2peckrdbillygoat* in it, I will reactivate your account.

Thanks for following through with this. I know it's inconvenient.

Like a nutrient solution for President Fuck-Nutty's terminal chance of being let back in JREF... of course, nothing happened when he emailed back. But that didn't stop George from leaving pecker tracks all over my new gingham kulats.

How am I supposed to tell President Bush that, although the wheel is spinning, the hamster looks dead?

* Not the real password, is it, Jeff?

There is a theory that there is only one user here (shemp) and that every other account is one of his socks.

Yes, even you. How sure are you?

It seemed creepy as hell, but also kind of awesome

Turned out they were using the forum as a personal database and posting cross linked data and info just for themselves to be able to use

Which makes it was less strange

Until you find out every last entry and post was about the series Buffy the Vampire Slayer

Before Wikipedia I was part of a group doing a similar thing, a thing where we tried to use a forum as a linked database of everything, which included anything somebody would write

It has wiki like fast linking and was pretty cool

It probably still exists

(does quick check)

Yep

And it’s still going

I can tolerate a sock puppet if effort is used. The LB puppet started off with no pretense of bring a real person, but this version now is just pathetic.
